A cold snap will hit the UK today with winds and gales up to 75mph expected.
Scotland will experience strong winds, with a Met Office yellow weather warning in place.
The colder temperatures come after multiple weather warnings were put in place this week.
The weather in the UK had already turned colder on Thursday, with temperatures plunging to just 1C.
Met Office forecaster Steven Keates said it is going to be particularly cold across northern parts of the UK today.
Mr Keates said: “On Saturday we start off with very windy weather across northern Scotland, with potential gusts of 65mph to 75mph.”
The forecaster said showers may hit parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland before heading southwards.
He added: “The far South East will stay mostly dry.
“In the South it will be a relatively mild day on Saturday afternoon, with temperatures of 12C or 13C.
“Towards the North of the UK, however, temperatures will be colder.”
According to the latest Met Office forecast, temperatures will be around 8C in the North of the country and will feel colder because of windy weather conditions.
In the evening, showers will continue to hit parts of western and northern Scotland, where it will continue to be windy.
The mercury will reach minimum temperatures of 5C in the North of Scotland and the weather will feel generally chilly across all parts of the UK.
Sunday is going to be another cold day, with showers in the North and dry weather in the South.
